About

A journey of musical excellence.

My name is Vinh P. Dang; Ken is my English name. I am an international music director, conductor, educator and solo oboist who believes in the power of music to transform lives and connect cultures.

My journey began at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and led to the stages and academic halls of Asia and the United States, including the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, West Virginia University and the National University of Singapore. That path was supported entirely by full scholarships throughout more than twenty years of education and professional development.

Today I am based in Houston, Texas, where I study conducting at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston.

As a former lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory and an international music director in Jakarta, I teach musicology, performance analysis, conducting, theory and instruments, with technical skill and deep musical understanding.

Share

I have performed as an oboe artist with the HBSO, served as principal oboist of the Asian Youth Orchestra on tours of Hong Kong, China and Japan, founded KEN Class for young music lovers, and planned and lectured at chamber concerts such as "Value of Time".

Connect

I founded the KEN Group charity, connected Vietnamese music leaders with international institutions, and guest-conducted the All Jakarta Honor Orchestra and a charity concert for UNICEF.
